250W, Rugged, High-density DC/DC Converter suits Rugged Industrial Environments
Absopulse Electronics' BAP 190 Series rugged, industrial quality dc/dc converters deliver 250W continuous output power from a robust, conduction/convection-cooled package with a 132 x 64 x 300mm total footprint. This series uses the field-proven topology of the BAP 180 family, but has a 50% higher power density. The design is optimized for quick adaptation for special customer requirements. The standard stock versions have two output terminals: a Redundant via a built-in redundancy diode, and a Direct, which bypasses the redundancy diode. They can be used in Redundant or Direct operation, depending on application requirements. On the Redundant output, these converters can be used for redundant parallel or N+1 operation. The Direct output can be used for monitoring, precision regulation or to achieve higher efficiency. The 125Vdc input version (90V to 145Vdc standard range) is available with 24Vdc or 48Vdc standard outputs. A Form C output fail alarm is included in this design. The calculated MTBF of the unit is above 150, 000 hours at 45oC, with demonstrated figures expected to be significantly higher, which is the case for the company’s other products. These rugged converters meet EN61373/IEC61373 shock and vibration standards; additional ruggedizing and conformal coating are available for operation in extreme environments. Other features include inrush current limiting, reverse polarity protection and rectangular, continuous current limiting with short-circuit protection (no hiccup). Thermal protection is by built in thermostat with self-resetting. Efficiency is 85% or higher, depending on the output configuration. For detailed specifications, please see datasheet above (right). Absopulse offers an extensive range of DC/DC converters designed for operation in rugged environments. These designs can be modified to meet customer electrical and mechanical requirements.
