750Vdc Input, 400W DC/DC Converter for Railway and other Harsh-environment Applications
Mass transit vehicles: trams, metros and light rail as well as mining locomotives. Absopulse Electronics has recently released the HVI 400R series, a 400W addition to its line of high input voltage DC/DC converters. The unit accepts 750Vdc input voltage (525V – 975Vdc range), the traction voltage typically required for mass transit vehicles such as trams, metros and light rail, and for mining locomotives. The standard series delivers 24V, 36V or 48Vdc. Other output voltages are available on request. An optional built-in redundancy diode would allow for a number of units to be connected in parallel to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy. The HVI 400R meets the requirements of EN50155 for electronic equipment used on rolling stock and is filtered to meet EN 50121-3-2 EMI/EMC. Heavy ruggedizing and conformal coating provide immunity to shock, vibration, humidity and moisture. The HVI 400R is designed to meet IEC 61373 Categories 1 A & B shock and vibration standards. Cooled by conduction and natural air convection, it is rated for -25°C to 55°C for full specification, with wider temperature ranges also available. The unit features high efficiency, low output noise and full protection on the input and output. To ensure high reliability and long operating life, all critical components on the primary side are designed and tested for corona inception levels significantly higher than the operating voltages.
